Note : Upgrade from a previous version

The 8.31 EA software brings several important changes to the underlying VE product architecture. These changes are applicable to the Virtual Chassis and the Virtual Load Modules. To benefit from these changes, the entire Virtual Machine must be replaced with a newer version. As such, the in-place-upgrade procedure from a previous version (by means of RPM, TAR and/or SH files) is not supported for the 8.31 EA release. The only upgrade procedure available is by deploying new Virtual Machines (by means of OVA / QCOW2 / SH files).
