IxANVL Release 8.40 EA (September 2012)

IxANVL 8.40 EA release provides an additional VRRPv6 suite and enhancements of BGP4-CORE, BGP4-EXTENSIONS, BGP-AS4, BGP-PLUS, BGPPLUS-AS4, G_8265_1, Openflow Conformance test suites. Few outstanding bugs reported since the previous release has also been fixed in this release.

The following is a brief description of the added and enhanced test suites:

  1. New Suite
    • VRRPv6: This test suite is based on RFC 5798, which verifies VRRPv3 over IPv6. It contains 77 test cases.

  2. Enhanced Suite
    • G.8265.1: This test suite is based on the following test plan from the IoMetrix specifications and contains 348 slave test cases, of which, 80 new test cases are added in this release.
      • IEEE 1588 Conformity Test Suite For Frequency Synchronization in Telecommunications Networks, Draft Version 2.0
    • OPENFLOW1.0: This test suite is based on the following specification and test plan, and contains 181 test cases, of which, 89 new test cases are added in this release.
      • OpenFlow Switch Specification Version 1.0.0 (Wire Protocol 0x01)
      • OFTest
    • BGP Error Handling draft: 75 new test cases are added in different suites based on "draft-ietf-idr-error-handling-01.txt: Revised Error handling For BGP UPDATE Message"
      • BGP4: 34 new test cases are added
      • BGPPLUS: 36 new test cases are added
      • BGP-AS4: 1 new test case is added
      • BGP-Ext: 3 new test cases are added
      • BGPPLUS-AS4: 1 new test case is added

Product Compatibility

IxANVL 8.40 EA requires IxOS 6.30 EA SP2 if operating with VNIC (v3.30) on the Ixia load modules.

NOTE: To ensure proper operation of a client with supported IxOS versions, prior to installing this application release you must un-install all previous versions of Ixia applications, Ixia StatEngine, Ixia StatEngine PCPU packages and IxOS. After the un-installations are complete, the client must be rebooted.

IxANVL Workstation Requirements

CPU: 32-bit Pentium 4 or better RAM: 2GB or more Disk: 750MB Free or more

Windows OS:

Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Windows 2003 Server, Windows 7 32-bit SP1, Windows 2008 Server in single user mode (IxANVL supports US English versions of the Windows operating system. Although IxANVL may run on other versions of Windows OS, these other versions are not officially supported by Ixia. If you attempt to install or run IxANVL on any version of Windows OS other than the U.S. English version, IxANVL installation or operation may fail.)

Linux OS:

Redhat Enterprise 4.0 with kernel 2.6.9-11 or 2.6.9-22.EL, Centos 5.3 with kenel 2.6.18-128.e15xen, Redhat Enterprise 5.0 with 2.6.18-53.el5

Important Notes:

Java has a known caveat that requires an extra rpm file (xorg-x11-deprecated-libs-6.8.2-31.i386.rpm) that sometimes is not installed by default on an RHE 5.0 machine. As the IxANVL installer is a Java-based application, it is required that this file be installed in order to function normally. Please refer to the "Linux Installation Notes" below for a workaround to fix this problem.
